Day 2. Reggea Night

1st of March, 2015

Yesterday was “a bit” snowy…

No, it was really, really snowy, hadn’t seen as much snow this winter at home. Or in years. Started walking through Williamsburg, my hood, to find a gazillion of great and new street art! Yeah, that’s why I came for (True story).

Went for breakfast at “Sweethaus”, a new (?) cupcake and sweets shop, (It’s located at 133 Metropolitain Ave., Brooklyn). Had a regular coffee (never again, it’s just brown water), a salted caramel cupcake (definitely do this again!) and a nice and warm focaccia. Yummy!

Went to Union Square to walk a bit around, Washington Square Park as well to find myself in the end at the MET. (Actually my plan was to sit all day at that great bookstore, which WAS actually at the corner right next to Washington Square but it appeared to be closed… Permanently. Bullocks.)

I loved the MET and still do. But why is it always happening to me, that the fashion institute is closed when I visit? Grrr. No clue.

So I met Mai at 17.30 and we went down 5th Ave by bus which takes quite some time but it is beautiful on the other hand. Still snowing like hell. Lucky, I brought the right shoes. We went to a Thai Place called Rohm Thai at 27E, 20th St, where I had “dunken noodles”, very very good and stuffing!

After that we went to a cinema nearby to see “Into the Woods” (watch out, there’s a pattern here!) which was pure fun!

Why I called this entry “Reggae Night”?

Actually just beacsue I heard the song when I was at Sweethaus… And when we walked into Rohm Tai there was it again! I felt so strange, thought my ears gone wild and playing tricks with me, but no. Mai could hear it, too 😀

Day 1: Go West

28th of February

Gettin up early like on a school day. K. made breakfast, but wasn’t hungry at all. But at least I was.

Went to the airport together and said goodbye for 5 weeks. I was strolling through the duty free area and found a beautiful and also functional (btw.  there is no such thing as functional clothing) coat by “Derbe.” Soft shell in turquoise and beautiful! Love it!

Sitting at the Amsterdam Airport now and waiting to board. Think I will use the flight time for reading & watching and maybe sleeping.

I go to the restless city
I need to sleep
but won’t find it in these insomniac streets
that behave like working bees
illuminated by pollution of light
sounded by cars & horses

Have to change my diaries’ layout now for I am afraid the pages in there won’t last!

After standing in line for the “Esta Firsttime” for like 1,5 hours, my friend M. picked me up at JFK and we made our way on the Q train to Marcey Avenue to my hostel.

We went for food in Brooklyn kind of close by to the “Samurai Papa”, a Japanese place with awesome Ramen!
We shared edamame as starter and I had the vegan Ramen, which was soooo tasty!

I was nearly dying for I was awake for so many hours, could hardly sleep on the plane, but falling asleep in the hostel was also very hard for me! Fell asleep around 4 am my old time, it was eleven in NYC 😀

The hostel is strange, I feel like a chicken in a cage… It’s a 2- bedroom, stock bed, BUT there is no ceiling, so every bedroom on the floor is kinda connected! Seriously?! And it’s so hot in there so I wake up every hour to drink a big sip of water!

Well, goodnight.

Und natürlich auch “hallo” an alle weiteren Leser und Freunde!

Der Sommer ist da, natürlich, unerwähnenswert… Es merkt ja jeder 🙂

Was gibt es neues? Meine CDs sind nun quasi ausverkauft und ich bin gerade dabei eine kleinere, nicht so aufwendige Auflage zu machen, damit noch diejenigen, die keine ergattern konnten, noch eine bekommen können!

Nächste Woche geht es in die wunderschöne Uckermark zum 3.Liederfestival in Thomsdorf, worauf ich mich schon sehr freue! Es gibt soweit ich weiß noch Karten, kommt und seid erstaunt von der Schönheit der Uckermark!

Ebenso gebe ich im Sommer endlich ein Konzert in meiner quasi Heimatstadt Wiesbaden (immerhin fahre ich seit Jahren ein Auto, das ein WI Kennzeichen trägt 😉 ) Ich spiele nämlich am 8.8. ein Konzert im Infoladen in der Blücherstraße. Der Eintritt ist hier frei und eine Hutspende wird dankend entgegen genommen!

Danach steht immer wieder mal was kleines an, auf meinem Kalender könnt ihr genau sehen, wo ich spiele.

Worauf ich mich schon sehr freuen kann wird 2016. Zwar stecke ich dan total im Prüfungsstress, aber das hält mich natürlich nicht davon a.b, ein wenig mein gestresstes Dasein mit Musik zu erheitern, und euch natürlich auch!

Ich spiele nämlich am 18.3.2016 im Burgcafe Pippifax in Neckarsgemünd und ein oder zwei Tage davor bei Dietmar in der Cowhide House, Schwalbach. Auch quasi Heimat. Darauf freue ich mich auch sehr! Ich komme aus dem Freuen gar nicht raus!

Ich hoffe, euch, vor allem dich, liebe Marina, auf dem ein oder anderen Konzert sehen zu dürfen 🙂
